Volunteer Agreement

Introduction

Volunteers are an important and valued part of the team. We hope that you enjoy volunteering with us.

This agreement tells you what you can expect from us, and what we hope from you. We aim to be flexible, so please let us know if you would like us to consider any changes and we will do our best to accommodate these. 

Shout Radio will do our best to:

Introduce you to how the organization works and your role in it and provide any relevant training you need. (This includes Heath and Safety and making you aware of the fire procedures, as well as other procedures that may be relevant to your role.)

Provide regular meetings with a main point of contact so that you can check that about how your tasks are organized, get feedback from us and pass on any feedback gathered through your volunteering. 

Respect your skills, dignity and individual wishes and to do our best to meet
them.  

consult with you and keep you informed of possible changes within the organization, as well as taking onboard, your ideas and suggestions.

To Insure you against injury you suffer or cause due to negligence, where relevant.

 We will provide a safe workplace, that is clean and free from hazards.

We will apply our equal opportunities policy and make sure you are not discriminated against. 

We will supply a complaints procedure, should you wish to make a complaint. 

We ask You To

Work reliably to the best of your ability, and to give as much warning as possible whenever you cannot volunteer when expected.

Come into the building clean and with a smart appearance, if possible. 

Treat the building with respect and respect other Tenants of the building. Please respect this, by walking quietly along the corridors and not making too much noise or, getting under other people’s feet.

When using the kitchen, please make sure you clean up after yourself and only use the station milk, from the fridge. 

Use the computers and the Internet appropriately. You may use Social Media and chat, as long as it does not interfere with your role. 

Report  any equipment \ fittings that are broken or damaged, straight away

To observe the no smoking policy in the building, by only smoking in the designated area, at the other end of the car park. In addition, drugs of any kind, are prohibited. 

Use the telephone appropriately, making sure personal calls are kept to a minimum and that you always use good phone manor, when answering calls. 

To report bullying \ harassment to your supervisor as soon as possible.

Keep your personal details updated. Please let us know if you change your phone number or email address.

Observe the Fire Procedures for the station and never ignore the fire alarm.

 

Broadcasting a Show

In addition, there is also a separate agreement that all Broadcasting Volunteers must adhere to. Please read the below section, if this applies to you.
 
  • Unless agreed otherwise, you are permitted to only broadcast for a maximum of THREE hours per day. 
  • Presenters can do more than one show a day, provided that it doesn’t breach the daily broadcast quota. 
  • A show cannot be used ‘solely’ for commercial benefit. 
  • You cannot air negative views or statements about Shout Radio, or it’s members 
  • You cannot make any libelous views or statements about third parties. (Including Shout Radio)
  • Illegal, explicit, and/or derogatory topics are prohibited to be broadcast.
  • Tracks must be clean (or use the radio edit) of swear words. (This also includes lyrics in parodies and songs.) We do not have a watershed, so this clause applies at all times of the day and night.
  • is held fully responsible for the content of the show and any legal action that arises from it.
  • Broadcasting any copyright material on social media and/or other live streaming platforms is prohibited as this isn’t covered under our broadcasting licence.
  • You agree to give us at least 6 HOURS notice that you are unable to broadcast your show. (except in an emergency) You are also responsible for ensuring you pre-record or voice track a show, for your absence)
  • You must be ready to broadcast and be connected to the server, at least THIRTY minutes before your show.
  • We reserve the right to cancel, ban or suspend a show \ volunteer without notice.
  • You must not allow anyone access your account at any time. (This includes sharing login information)

Pre-Recoded Shows \ Voicetracked Shows

  • Unless agreed beforehand, Recorded shows must be sent in, at least 48 hours before airtime. 
  • Recorded \ Syndicated Presenters are bound by the same rule as live Presenters, in relation to giving notice, if you cannot do your show
  • All shows sent in for broadcast, must be in .mp3 only
