Shout Community Base

Update Information:

This page was last updated: Thursday July 22nd 2019

Our Blackpool Community Base is the Headquarters for Shout Radio and our physical studio.  It has taken 6 years to get our HQ open. As well as being our main studio, our North Shore office is also our administrative base, with a sea view!

In the early days of Shout Radio,  Aaron and his mum had ideas about opening a “Community Base” for the station, where we could run the station from and also allow Presenters to use, However, in Rachel’s lifetime, this never happened.  Unfortunately, she died of Septicemia (caused by her Chron’s) in Fabuary 2014. 7 years on and the station’s luck changed. We were given some space in 2019, along with some equipment. We now have somewhere safe, where people can come and learn about Radio and have hands on experience.

The Studio is equipped with a Sonifex S2 Broadcast Desk, microphones and 2 computers. On of the computers is a touch screen, running Play-It Cart Wall, while the other is running Station Playlist Professional.

Below is pictures of our Studio

The Office

The Office is down the corridor from the Studio and has a hotdesking area for Station Management to work. The Office has a PC and is also has a colour Photocopier.

Our base is fully accessible and has level access from the rear of the building.  (There are 2 sets of steps to the front of the building) We also have  disabled toilet facilities too. The doorways are wider for wheelchair users and the whole of our community base is on one level. The exterior of the building is protected by CCTV and the entrance at the front of the building has a intercom system. For those needing to use the rear entrance,  there is no intercom or bell, so they will need to ring the office, so we can come and open the door. There is very limited parking at the back of the building, but there is plenty of on street parking. Our base is also close to bus and the tram stops.

Our studio  is equipped with the following equipment:

  • A Sonifex S2 Mixer
  • Denon CD Player
  • Dell Workstation PC, running Windows 7, Station Playlist, Station Playlist and Station Playlist Creator Pro
  • HP PC  with Windows 7 for Internet Use
  • Lenovo Touch Screen PC, running  Windows 7 Pro & Play It Cartwall
  • x2 AKG Condesner Microphones
  • Cisco 303 IP Telephone
  • Dell MP223 Black and White Printer
  • Konica Bizhub 440e Multi Function Printer (Scans Copies, Prints) – Colour (Located in the Office)

The equipment has been bought or donated by various volunteers and supporters, which Shout Radio are most grateful for. Notably: Mark Blain, who generously donated the studio furniture and also our Sonifex S2 Mixer to the station. Also, thank you goes out to Rev. Carol Seddon and her husband David for the leather office chairs. Finally, thank you to Tommy Martin (aka Big Tommy) for the Lenovo Touch Screen PC.

Also many thanks go to: Laura Willls, Cameron Wills, Timothy Crossley, Marion Crossley and Dennis Henson, for their help with building the studio furniture. Finally, thankyou to Nigel Man and a Van for transporting our equipment and furniture to our base.
