Our Website
Our website runs WordPress, which is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) written in PHP and is paired with a MySQL or MariaDB database with support for secure Socket Layer (SSL), using HTTPS. Our website is hosted by Route94.
The actual Website itself, uses a heavily modified version of the Astra Theme as a template, which has been adapted to our needs, by using various plugins and code edits. It uses various plugins, to provide on air information, info on upcoming shows etc. Our IT Team maintain the Website, Mail Server and Intranet. Please report any website issues via the IT Servicedesk. (Email: helpdesk@shoutradio.org.uk)
Connect (Intranet)
Connect, (Which is the Station Intranet) also runs on WordPress and is our internal website for the station. Connect runs on it’s own dedicated virtual machine, (Hosted at the office) and is running LAMP. (Linux, Apache, MYSQL and PHP.)
The Intranet has been designed to be easy to use, with simple navigation and uncluttered pages. It is designed to be fast and loads quickly on modern web browsers, such as Chrome, Opera and Firefox. The Intranet has access to a wide variety of resources, such as handy guides and ‘how to’s’, information on the various station Directorates, an Internal Phone Directory, access to Forms and the Station Policy Hub.
You cannot access the Intranet from the Internet, as it is restricted to our Volunteers only. To access the Intranet, you must either be sat in front of one of the Station Network Enabled Workstations, or via SWAN VPN.
Connect runs the GovIntranatters Theme and uses plugins such as: Advanced Custom Fields Pro, Revelenssi and BuddyPress.
Email (SOGO Groupware)
Our Email System runs Sogo, which is an Open Source Groupware Server. It is very similar to Microsoft Exchange Server, but is Open Source and does not cost us anything to use it. Sogo is fully compatible with Microsoft Outlook ActiveSync. Sogo also features: Full Calendar access, as well as an Address Book and Enhanced Mail Filtering, SPAM protection, as well as Mailbox and Calendar Delegation.
Sogo can be used on a Mail Client, such as Outlook (Using ActiveSync) or Thunderbird. (Using IMAP) It also has a smart and responsive Web Application, called Sogo-Go, which you can use to access emails, address books and calendars, from where ever you are in the world.
